So Long, John… we'll miss you at LPM
Question:
Adios, John. You and I have had our differences over things, and you have taken as well as given about our respective views on things avionic. But you have always been fair and honest, and I totally respect a person that treats me that way. I just got my February issue, and it appears that John Likakis is leaving Light Plane Maintenance to assume the editorship of American Angler, a fly fishing magazine. He says he will still field aircraft problems at rec.aviation.* as well, as he has been consistently helpful and offered valuable counsel here. JL, I honestly didn’t think you would be able to fill Kas Thomas’ shoes, but I was wrong. Now I pity Chris Maida
Your presence here created a great deal of goodwill for LPM (and I hope a couple of subscriptions). Your colleague at Aviation Consumer should have been so astute. I don’t guess we’ll see much of you for a while, what with starting a new job and all, so I’ll save my Skyhawk rigging question for later. While being the editor of a fly fishing magazine has certain advantages over LMP (you don’t get nearly as greasy, you can eat the result of a good day’s work, and the biggie: no Federal Fly Fishing Administration), you’ll never save those anglers as much money as you did us. I just have to add my concurrence to everything Chip here wrote. However, I especially have to add that the sole reason I subscribed was because of his participation in Usenet. It may be that, one day I would have tried it, but I’m usually not motivated to subscribe to anything that doesn’t send me a zillion things in the mail.
So now, probably only five or six months after subscribing, he’s gone. But I’m hooked, oh well- life goes on. Hopefully we’ll see him around. Anyone else notice "Fly Fishing" has the word "Fly" in it? Cheers, Doug — _ Doug / | Fields http://www.311wc.com http://www.interpage.net / N311WC LinkAlert Remote Monitoring
